Ans.    Admission cell members welcome email from prospective students. However, during admissions season, when there might be as many as 1500 prospective applicants writing email, they might not be able to reply to all; or they might have a policy of forwarding the message to the department's admissions office for administrators to reply. A lack of direct and personal reply does not indicate a lack of interest on the member's part. On the contrary, admission cell members often take note of the prospective applicant's name and course interest and watch specifically for the full application to be submitted for a full evaluation. Therefore, contacting admission cell members is worthwhile, and a judiciously placed, carefully worded email can pave the way for your admission even if you don't get a personal reply.
